Have you ever had an experience so powerful it made you question your understanding of the world, the kind of moment that stops you in your tracks to say “wow”—in other words, a moment of awe? The experience of awe cuts across our differences and is essential to feeling connected to something bigger than ourselves.
In collaboration, Gehl, The Gambrell Foundation & UC Berkeley are developing the Cities of Awe Lab…an initiative to advance the science and cultural practice of awe in cities... And we are starting in New York City!
Team Wonder and Cities of Awe Lab invite you to join NYC artists, activists, dreamers and doers for an electric evening of awe, wonder and inspiration as we collectively imagine the New York We Want.
We’ll be joined by Dr. Dacher Keltner, a psychologist at UC Berkeley and author of Awe, The New Science of Everyday Wonder and How It Can Transform Your Life, who will share the power awe has to cultivate purpose, kindness, empathy, and humility. All essentials for people to live a great life.
Then we'll see awe and wonder in action through an interactive installation by digital futurists Domestic Data Streamers and enjoy a performance by East Harlem legends Los Pleneros de la 21. Throughout, we’ll enjoy plentiful food and drinks, and share our stories of awe that make NYC a place of magical wonderment.
